The naysayers of the world sometimes grind me down. They moan planning is too hard, it takes too long, its just a guess, & its a waste of time. So they don't do it & instead spend their time & valuable resources muddling through the same way they've always done & yet expecting a difference result.

We'll planning does require some thought & effort. The words in the plan are broader than the numbers in it. The reality of the organization is even beyond the words in the plan. At best all any model or plan (numbers, words, fancy algorithms) can do is to approximate reality. Reality is far too complex for us to capture all of the nuances.

Learn to live with it. However, all that being said an approximate map of the territory still might get your sorry behind out of the jungle and closer to the promised land.
